ABOUT

ABOUT

ROOMS

Our Rooms

Our comfortable rooms offer private baths and include breakfast.  Children under 5 stay free in parents'  bed. Come see what we have to offer.

We are located in historic Wake Forest, NC, the  original home of Wake Forest College, before it relocated to Winston-Salem.  Formerly known as the JL Reid House, the Lions Gate was built in 1901.  With the addition of the 2 wings in the 1950's, the house was used as a nursing home.  Between the years of 2003 & 2006 the home was lovingly restored by Louise and Bill Howard and opened to the public as a bed and breakfast.

The Akaris purchased the home in February 2017 and continue to run it as a bed and breakfast.

During their stay, guests may enjoy the tranquility of their room, explore the surrounding area of the Raleigh/Cary/Durham triangle, or take a stroll through the streets of historic Downtown Wake Forest that boast dining, shopping, and a friendly atmosphere.

SEE & DO

THINGS TO DO

The Lions Gate is located in the historic district of the Town of Wake Forest.  Wake Forest offers residents and visitors alike the small town feel while close to big city amenities.

A visit to the Wake Forest Historical Museum exhibits the town’s history of education, industry, and diversity; while a walking tour of the historic district discusses the town’s developmental and architectural history.

Downtown Wake Forest offers guests shopping, dining and entertainment.  You should especially make sure to include a Friday night visit when streets are closed for Friday Night on White events coupled with a Saturday morning stroll through the Farmer’s Market.

Outdoor enthusiasts can look to either E. Carroll Joyner park, which has 3 miles of trails, or Falls Lake, with its 12,000 acres lake and 26,000 acres of woodlands for fishing, boating, swimming, biking, hiking, and camping.

Those interested in venturing outside of our charming town should look to Raleigh or Durham for things to see and do.
